Element #17 CHLORINE

1. People from foreign countries pronounce chlorine differently from one another. Chlorine is pronounced Chlore in France, Chlor in Germany, and Chloro in Italian.

      9. I was found by Carl Wilhelm Scheele in 1774. He obtained it through the reaction of the mineral pyrolusite (manganese dioxide, MnO2) with hydrochloric acid (HCl, then known as muriatic acid). Scheele thought the resulting gas contained oxygen.
